Their self-financed debut single I’m Alive was well received, becoming a firm favourite in the punk clubs. The Cavern opened in 1991 with the idea of bringing international talent to Exeter, and simultaneously give a platform to Exeter bands.

We have put on tens of thousands of artists, including the likes of COLDPLAY, MUSE, BIFFY CLYRO, IDLEWILD, TOM WALKER, GEORGE EZRA, NAPALM DEATH, THE 1975, BASTILLE, BEABADOOBEE, THE SCRATCH PERVERTS, THE BRONX,SCOUTING FOR GIRLS, AFRICA BAMBATTA, SICK OF IT ALL, SAMIAM, THE AUTOMATIC, HUNDRED REASONS, KAISER CHIEFS, THE CRANBERRIES, THE GOD MACHINE, DODGY, THE EVENS, MY RUIN, THE BLUETONES, CATATONIA, MUMFORD & SONS, MR HUDSON & THE LIBRARY, FUGAZI, STRIKE ANYWHERE, THE UK SUBS, SHAM 69, THE WEDDING PRESENT plus many many more.

Our first show was on St Valentine’s Day 1991 with US punk band Quicksand.
